Who i am
I’m A.M. O’Malley—a writer, poet, and nonprofit leader based in Nashville, Tennessee. I’m the author of two hybrid poem-memoirs: Expecting Something Else (2016) and Tuscaloosa Grief Factory (2025).
My work weaves the personal with the political, drawing from lived experience to explore themes like loss, motherhood, mental health, and reinvention. For over two decades, I’ve worked at the intersection of art, education, and social justice—teaching creative writing in prisons, public schools, and community spaces.
My writing has appeared in journals, anthologies, and, more meaningfully, on the sticky notes of readers’ bathroom mirrors. I believe storytelling has the power to heal, disrupt, and make meaning—even from the messiest of lives.
